Terms of Service

The short version

Quick Checklist is free to use with no account. If you want your notes on more than one device, Premium ($2/month, 1-week free trial) adds sync, handled through Paddle.com as our merchant of record.

Your notes are yours. We don't read them, sell them, or use them for anything other than showing them back to you and, on Premium, syncing them.

This is a one-person project, not a company with a legal department — these terms are written to be honest about what that means, not to maximise legal protection for us at your expense.

Acceptance of these terms

By using Quick Checklist (quickchecklist.app), you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, the free tier's local-only mode means the simplest way to opt out is to just stop using the app — nothing you wrote is stored anywhere but your own device unless you created an account.

We may update these terms as the app changes. If a change materially affects you, we'll say so in the app rather than relying on you to re-read this page — same commitment as the Privacy Policy makes.

Who we are

Quick Checklist is built and operated by an individual developer based in Indonesia. There is no company behind it.

For anything in these terms, write to wwcolaborationprojects@gmail.com. Please allow up to 30 days for a substantive reply.

What the service is

Quick Checklist is a notes and checklist app available as a web app and, where distributed, as a mobile app.

  • Free tier: works entirely offline, stores everything on your own device, and needs no account. Limits on item count and images apply (see the in-app upgrade screen for current numbers) — we may adjust these limits as the product evolves.
  • Premium tier: adds sync across your devices, a higher item limit, and removes ads. Requires an account and an active subscription.
  • Ads: free-tier accounts see ads from Google AdSense while online. See the Privacy Policy for what that involves.

Accounts

Creating an account is optional and only needed for Premium. Accounts are handled by Google Firebase Authentication — we never see or store your password.

You're responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure and for what happens under your account. Tell us at the contact address above if you believe your account has been compromised.

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. See the Privacy Policy's Children section for more.

Premium subscriptions and billing

Premium is $2/month (or whatever price is shown at checkout — prices can change, and we'll show the current one before you pay). New subscriptions start with a 1-week free trial; if you don't cancel before it ends, billing begins automatically.

Paddle.com is our merchant of record for every subscription: they process the payment, hold your card details (we never see them), issue receipts, and handle sales tax/VAT. Your contractual relationship for the purchase itself is with Paddle, acting as the reseller of this service — this is standard for how Paddle-based SaaS billing works, not something specific to us.

Subscriptions renew automatically each billing period until cancelled. Cancel any time in the app or through Paddle's customer portal; you keep Premium access until the end of the period you already paid for. See the Refund Policy for what happens to money already paid.

Your content

Your notes, checklists, and images are yours. We don't claim ownership of anything you write, and we don't read, scan, or use your content for training, advertising targeting, or any purpose beyond providing the service back to you (and, on Premium, syncing it).

You're responsible for what you store in the app. Don't use it to store or share anything illegal, or content you don't have the right to store.

On the free tier, your content lives only on your device — we have no copy and can't recover it if you lose the device or clear your browser data. Export a backup from Settings if you want a copy elsewhere.

Acceptable use

Don't try to break the service: no attempting to bypass the free-tier limits through automated means, no attacking or overloading our infrastructure, no reverse-engineering the sync protocol to build a competing paid service off our server.

We reserve the right to suspend or close an account that abuses the service, including chargeback abuse (repeatedly disputing legitimate charges instead of using the Refund Policy) and attempts to circumvent subscription limits.

Availability and changes

This is a one-person project. We aim to keep the service running and your synced notes safe, but we can't promise 100% uptime, and we don't offer a formal SLA.

We may change, add to, or remove features over time, including free-tier limits. We'll try to give notice of changes that materially reduce what you get, but the free tier in particular may evolve as the product does.

If we ever discontinue the service entirely, we'll give reasonable notice and a way to export your data before that happens, on both tiers.

No warranty

Quick Checklist is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. We don't guarantee the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that synced data will never be lost — though we design against that, see the Privacy Policy's Security section for exactly what protections exist and don't.

Nothing here limits any warranty or right that applicable consumer protection law gives you and that can't be excluded by these terms.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including lost data, lost profits, or lost business — even if we knew that kind of loss was possible.

Where liability can't be excluded, it's limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $20 if you're on the free tier and never paid us anything.

This limitation doesn't apply to liability that the law doesn't allow us to exclude — for example, liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.

Ending your account

You can stop using the free tier at any time — there's nothing to cancel. You can close a Premium account and cancel the subscription from Settings or Paddle's customer portal at any time.

We may suspend or terminate an account for violating the acceptable-use terms above, with notice where practical. If we do, we'll still give you a reasonable window to export your data first, except in cases of serious abuse.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Indonesia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. If you're a consumer in a jurisdiction that gives you mandatory local consumer protections regardless of this clause, those protections still apply to you.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the app changes. The date at the top reflects the last update. For changes that materially affect you, we'll tell you in the app rather than relying on you to re-read this page — same as the Privacy Policy.
